Import & Export GPX
📢 - INFO
StolWRX speaks standard GPX 1.1 for waypoints. Import your existing backcountry waypoint set from ForeFlight, Garmin, Gaia, or another tool, and export yours to take with you.
Exporting
Use the Waypoints menu → Export GPX. StolWRX downloads a single .gpx file containing every waypoint you currently own. Shared-to-you waypoints are not included.
Fields included per waypoint:
- Name, lat/lon, elevation.
- Time, comment, description, symbol, display mode.
- User notes.
- Runway length (m) and runway heading (°true) as StolWRX extensions. These fields are preserved when re-imported.
- Climb gradient (%) as a StolWRX extension (
stolwrx:ClimbGradientPercent). Used to draw the approach/escape-path cones. Preserved on re-import; ignored by other tools that don't know the extension.
The file is named with the current date so repeated exports don't collide in your Downloads folder.
Importing
Use the Waypoints menu → Import GPX. Pick a .gpx file from your system.
StolWRX merges the imported points with your existing cloud waypoints:
- Points with a matching name + near-identical coordinates are updated in place.
- Points that don't match an existing waypoint are added as new.
- Existing runway data on your waypoints is preserved unless the imported waypoint explicitly provides a runway.
A toast summarises the merge result — how many were added, how many were updated, and how many were skipped (for example, because the file had no recognised points).
Importing From Other Tools
| Source | Notes |
|---|---|
| ForeFlight — "Export user waypoints" | Works directly. Runway length/heading not in ForeFlight; set them in StolWRX after import. |
| Garmin Pilot / fltplan.com | Standard GPX 1.1. Works directly. |
| Gaia GPS, CalTopo | Waypoint markers import fine. |
| Custom CSVs / other formats | Not supported — convert to GPX first using your usual tool. |
Requirements
Import and export are both paid plan only features. Free-plan users can still see waypoints that other people share with them, but can't add to or export the set.
Limits
There's no hard cap on the number of waypoints StolWRX will store per account, but importing a very large database (thousands of points) may make the initial merge slow. Import in batches if you have problems.
